The Brief
The owners of Verde House approached me with the vision of turning an oversized bedroom, a dark and impractical dressing room and an outdated ensuite bathroom into a peaceful, tranquil Master Suite. Let this serve as a reminder that long, rectangular spaces can be very awkward from a functionality perspective unless you have multiple distinct functions that you can group together to provide scaled spaces within the larger area. It may be tempting to enlarge spaces when you can, but if they are not thought out it can actually result in the space feeling unsettling rather than improving it.

Design Solution
We took what had been the unused end of the long rectangular bedroom and dedicated it to a spacious dressing room, made private from the bedroom by large, louvred timber pocket doors. This, in turn, freed up space to make the ensuite bathroom super luxurious.
